Unexpected Praise

I had a nice start to my day.  My old boss forwarded me an email he received from someone else within Caltrans (where I used to work).  I worked on both of the walls she mentions near Yuba City and Cal Expo.  It made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.  Oh wait, maybe that was the coffee with Baileys.  Hmm...

Here is the simulation I did for the Yuba City project:

Miracle

Last night I saw the new USA hockey movie "Miracle."   I got a couple free passes to an advanced screening while picking up some new soccer goalie gloves.  Yeah, I know, why have passes to a hockey movie at a soccer shop??  Beats me, but I wasn't going to ask.  Anyway, the movie is very good.   It is similar to "Remember the Titans" in that feel-good-sort-of-way, but with less sadness (nobody gets paralyzed), and also follows a true story.  It was refreshing to see a really good movie that didn't need to have sex, violence, and cussing to tell a great story, even though I do not frown upon them.  After the movie was over and before the credits, they showed what each of the players are currently doing and where they are living.  Almost all of them live in Minnesota.  Figures.  Great movie.
